These are little shack type pop and mom shops on little side street (one of many), most of them have no heating inside and are open long hours; as it is a real hardship for the operators, these shacks give Yerevan a unique charm of it's own.

A scene that was only seen in American and European movies during the Soviet era is now a daily routine on the streets of Yerevan and other cities in Armenia. Begging has become a survival job for many, mostly the elders. it is unfortunate that one can see so many beggars sitting on the street like this old lady. Does anyone know what the solution is to this and other problems of the country? Let's hope that some do!
