Etchmiadzin is the headquarter of the Armenian Apostolic Church. There are many churches in Etchmiadzin but the most important one is the Cathedral of Etchmiadzin which is 17 centuries old. The cathedral was built on top of the old one and was rebuilt a few times after being destroyed. The Cathedral of Etchmiadzin is the center of worship for all Armenians and it holds a lance that is claimed to had been used to pierce Jesus' side, which is on display. |
